CANYON CITY - A new group for nursing mothers, the La Leche League, will hold its organizational meeting 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church parish house on South Washington Street.

Mothers with nursing babies and mothers-to-be are invited to attend as the joys of breastfeeding are discussed. The latest medical research as well as mothers' personal experiences will be shared. A lending library is available along with information for mothers returning to work and a 24-hour help line to answer questions about breastfeeding.

The La Leche League also offers mother-to-mother encouragement in a series of four meetings based on the book, "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding." Topics will include: Sept. 10, advantages of breastfeeding; Oct. 8, the family and the breast-fed baby; Nov. 12, the art of breastfeeding, avoiding difficulties; and Dec. 10, nutrition and weaning. The four-meeting series will repeat as long as interest is there.

Monthly meetings will continue on the second Wednesday. For more information, call Randi Movich at (541) 575-4256 or 421-3034.
