Charles Edward "Eddy" Fluty died on Nov. 26, 2006. He was 80.

Per Mr. Fluty's wishes, no services are planned.

Mr. Fluty was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Dallas County, Mo. He spent part of his childhood in Granite, where his family worked in the gold mines.

He served in Japan Occupation Forces and in Germany during World War II. He cooked in mining camps in Alaska, ran a hotel in California, cooked in homeless shelters and worked on ranches cooking for ranch hands. In his later years, he migrated back to Sumpter and the Granite area. He also lived in Fossil. He spent the past six years at Vintage Suites in Canby.

Mr. Fluty was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
