Clarence Edward Lippert, 69, of Union, died March 13, 2009 at a local care facility. Services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lippert was born July 18, 1939 in Prairie City to Leo Lester and Ellen Lippert. He attended school in Ritter and Long Creek. He spent most of his childhood in logging camps and enjoyed hunting, breaking horses and wildlife viewing.

On Aug. 12, 1961, he married Leah Chittiock in Monument. He was a rancher by trade. He moved to La Grande 15 years ago from Shelby, Mont.

Survivors include his wife, Leah of Union; mother, Ellen Heath of Pasco, Wash.; children, Clarence "Bud" (Vickki) Lippert Jr. of Fredericksburg, Texas, Virginia Ellen (Dale) Seevers, of Green River, Wyo., Samuel Ray Lippert of Temple, Texas, Douglas Wayne Lippert of Kalispell, Mont.; and sister, Clara F. (Wes) Moran of Pasco, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Lester and one son, John Lester.
