Darace Coleman "Doc/D.C." Marsh, 85, died Oct. 11, 2010, at his Dayville home surrounded by his family. At his request there will be no funeral services.

Mr. Marsh was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Octavia, Okla.

At age 16, he started working his way to Oregon, ending up in Mitchell, where he worked in the timber industry.

In February 1944, at age 19, he married the love of his life, Bessie (Stephenson) Marsh. They were married 66 years, raised three children, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

He always had an "open door" policy for family and friends. He was protective of his family; they were his life. He was also very generous with his friends.

He loved the outdoors. A logger by trade, his work took him to the mountains during the week. On the weekends, he returned to his family, to hunt, fish or visit his grandparents on the Bear Creek Ranch west of Mitchell.

He enjoyed gardening and every year would put in a huge garden that provided for family and friends in need.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie of Dayville; children, Clifton Marsh and Judy Zapata, both of Dayville, and Joyce Mooney of Federal Way, Wash.; two sisters, Gladys Weathers of Edmond, Okla., and Goldie Baxter of Octavia, Okla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Hospice, 541-575-1648.
