Obituaries: Joseph A. Truax

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Joseph A. Truax, 81, of Milton-Freewater, died Oct. 7, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Canyon City. Inurnment will follow at Canyon City Cemetery.

Mr. Truax was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Nampa, Idaho, one of two children, to Francis and Grace Cook Truax. The family lived in various places. He graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, Calif.

He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy G. Benoit, in Roseville on Feb. 14, 1949. They lived in Seneca and later Hines. He worked for the Edward Hines Lumber Company most of his life. After retirement, they moved to Milton-Freewater in 2003 to be closer to family.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy (Randy) Reese of Milton-Freewater and Jody (Mike) Ward of Payette, Idaho; son, Keith (Debbie) Truax of Milton-Freewater; brother, Don Truax of West Linn; five grandchildren, Amy Evey, Erin Ward, Rhiannon Stallings, Sarah Weikel and Kyle Truax; three great-grandchildren, McKenna Stallings, Hailey Stallings and Asher Evey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, on Oct. 28, 2005.

Arrangements are under the care of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
