Obituaries: Mary Jo Teigland

Mary Jo Teigland, of Alida, Minn. died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, Minn. She was 69.

-Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec.16, 2006, at Driskill Memorial Chapel.-Interment will follow at the Canyon City Cemetery.

-Mrs. Teigland was born May 1, 1937, in Bagley, Minn., to Vernon and Francis (Swinburne) Randall. Her childhood was spent in Central Oregon. She returned to Clearwater County when she was 21. She married Elwood "Buddy" Teigland on June 11, 1960 in Shevlin, Minn. She raised her family and helped farm in Alida, while working as a Food Service Director for the Clearwater County Memorial Hospital and the Bagley School District. After raising her family, she held several positions in Food Service in Oregon and the Marshall Islands. Recently, she divided her time between Alida, Oregon and Arizona.

She was a member of Alida Lutheran Church. She enjoyed handcrafts, gardening and cooking for the traditional family deer hunt. She devoted most of her time and energy to her children and grandchildren.

-She is survived by four children, Terri (Jon) Stavig of Cordova, Alaska; Timothy Teigland of Alida, Minn.; Susan Teigland of Bagley, Minn.; Eugene (Sue) Teigland of Bemidji, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Vern Richard (Marilyn) Randall of Mt. Vernon; Nathan (Judy) Randall of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three sisters, Dana (Wayland) Duncan of Ontario; Lorelei Hawk of Okeechobee, Fla.; Cheryl (Paul) Ables of Oregon City; numerous nieces and nephews; and former husband "Buddy" Teigland of Alida, Minn.

-She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerede Randall.

-Memorial contributions may be made to the Doernbecher's Foundation through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
