Norma Irene Jenkins, 85, of Mt. Vernon, died Oct. 7, 2010, at her home. A graveside service was held Oct. 12 at the Canyon City Cemetery with Pastor Dan Wiese officiating.

Mrs. Jenkins was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Clint and Veda (Campbell) Berry.

She married Walter "Sandy" Jenkins in Winnemucca, Nev., on Oct. 29, 1979.

She worked as a homemaker and also cooked for Mt. Vernon Middle School until her retirement. She loved her family and her animals.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Humbird of Mt. Vernon; stepson, Jim Schufeldt of Hialeah, Florida; grandson, Eddie Humbird of Canyon City; granddaughter, Michelle Humbird Ellis of Ontario; granddaughter, Billie Newman of John Day; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jenkins; and daughters, Beverly K. Schufeldt and Lorraine Lee Audis.
