Aug. 5, 1941 - April 21, 2007

Judy A. Paxton died on April 21, 2007, from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, at Mt. Scott Funeral Home.

Mrs. Paxton was born on Aug. 5, 1941, in Prairie City, to Harold and Bessie Patterson.

After completing two years at Eastern Oregon University, she moved to Portland. Mrs. Paxton retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1996 after 36 years of service in human resources. She also enjoyed 45 years with the Corps bowling league (where she met her husband).

Since her retirement, she dedicated herself to volunteering with agencies to assist others, most significantly, Clackamas Women's Service. Despite requiring oxygen for the past six years, she continued to volunteer, bowl, camp, travel and enjoy life. She was a dedicated attendee of Portland Adventist Pulmonary Rehab Group, which assisted her with maintaining her active life.

Mrs. Paxton is survived by her daughter, Shelley A. Paxton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Paxton.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Clackamas Women's Service.
