Nellie Ellen Young, 86, of Blue Mountain Nursing Home in Prairie City died Aug. 22.

She was born Feb. 25, 1916, at Hunters, Wash., to James and Margaret (Hill) Harris. She grew up around Ford and Wellpinit, Wash.

On Sept. 4, 1934, she married John T. Young at Spokane, Wash. She enjoyed her yard and flower gardens, camping and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Young is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Walt Gentis of Canyon City; three grandsons, Sherm Gentis of John Day, Mike Gentis of Canyon City and John Gentis of Pendleton; three sisters, Rose Martin of Everett, Wash., Emily Frazer of Lewiston, Idaho, and Alice Abbott of Deer Park, Wash.; brother, Cecil Harris of Wellpinit, Wash.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers.

A graveside service officiated by Jack Southworth was held Aug. 27 at Canyon City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Blue Mountain Nursing Home.

Driskill Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
