ODF honors O'Rorke for logging expertise

SALEM - O'Rorke Logging of John Day recently was named the state's 2009 Eastern Region Forest Practices Operator of the Year.

The award was announced Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Oregon Board of Forestry meeting in Salem.

Company owner Charlie O'Rorke was noted for a fuels management timber project near Mt. Vernon. The landowner cited O'Rorke's consistently good performance and his willingness to partner for careful harvest and tree selection.

It was the second time O'Rorke has received the honor. He was selected in 1998.

The Board also recognized Gustafson Logging of Astoria in the Northwest Region and Dave Brink Logging of Roseburg for the Southern Region.
