SALEM - Oregon's state Republican leaders responded quickly to the inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th president of the United States.

Senate Republican Leader Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) and House Republican Leader Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) issued this statement:

"We congratulate Barack Obama and wish him good luck as he begins his historic presidency. As many people in the world suffer under tyranny, Americans are fortunate to live in a nation that assures a peaceful transfer of power. Let us move forward in this spirit of renewal to build a better state and country."
