July 16, 1915 - June 6, 2004

Oscar "Mickey" Thomas, 88, of Kimberly, died Sunday, June 6, at Blue Mountain Nursing Home in Prairie City.

A memorial service is Saturday, June 12, at the Prairie Baptist Church in Prairie City with Pastor David Hoeffner officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Disposition will be by cremation and the urn will be interred at Canyon City Cemetery during a private family ceremony at the graveside following the memorial service.

Mr. Thomas was born July 16, 1915, in Dahlburg, Oklahoma to Robert and Annabelle Flowers Thomas. He came to Oregon when he was small and spent most of his school years in Portland. He came to Eastern Oregon in 1934 and married Pauline Auda in John Day May 11, 1936. The couple met on a blind date and remained married for 68 years.

He enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in his garden, hunting and going on fishing trips, often taking the family to Bull Prairie or one of the other many lakes in the area.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Pauline; four children, Gloria Wilson of Prairie City, Naomi Moss of The Dalles, Jack Thomas of White Salmon, Wash., and Barbara Reilly of Kimberly; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
