JOHN DAY – The Blue Mountains Forest Partners will take a field trip Wednesday, Sept. 17, to the Camp-Lick Project on the Blue Mountain Ranger District.

The group will gather at 7:45 a.m. at the Malheur National Forest Supervisor’s Office on Patterson Bridge Road, departing at 8 a.m. for the project. The group will return by 5 p.m., and participants should bring water and food and wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.

The tour precedes the group’s monthly meeting, set for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Grant County Regional Airport in John Day. Forest officials will discuss existing conditions on the Magone project area. The public is welcome to attend.

The Partners also plan to have a presentation on insect and disease infestations, with a focus on the pine beetle activity near the 13 Road. That will be at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, the location still to be confirmed. Contact Vernita Ediger, 541-575-7525 or vernita.bmfp@gmail.com for more information.
