PRAIRIE CITY - Residents of Prairie City are being asked to avoid outdoor watering starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, and continuing through July 31.

The City of Prairie City and the Grant County Water Master's Office announced the 48-hour curtailment Tuesday afternoon so that officials can run some tests of the flow from Dixie Creek.

The city's municipal water is supplied by well water and the Dixie Creek drainage.

The restriction is not health-related, officials stressed, but has to do with flow. There is no restriction on water use from indoor household taps.

Streamflows across the region have been dropping amid the hot dry weather in recent weeks.

Info: Prairie City Hall, 541-820-3605.
