PRAIRIE CITY - A Prairie City sophomore will be heading to Salem for leadership training in May.

Derek Kell has been selected to attend the Oregon state Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) leadership seminar May 21-23 at Willamette University in Salem.

Kell, a sophomore at Prairie City High School, was chosen among other students throughout Oregon to participate in the program which inspires and motivates youth toward a life of leadership and service.

HOBY has affiliate training seminars in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as international seminars through its World Leadership Congress program.
