HALFWAY - The Prairie City High School volleyball team finished with a 3-2 record in games played at the Pine Eagle Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The Panthers opened the tournament with a 25-22 victory over Joseph before dropping a close 25-23 division to Old Oregon League rival Powder Valley.
In the third game, Prairie City bounced back with a convincing 25-13 win over Burnt River before losing 25-19 to Cove.
In the final match, Prairie City topped Payette, Idaho, 25-14 and failed to advance to bracket play.
"We were in a tough bracket at the tournament," Prairie City coach Eva Saul said. "The girls played well, and I was happy with the way we did."
In the tournament, Lindy Black had 17 kills and five points, and teammate Danielle Smith added 18 points and two kills.
Amanda Rockhill recorded four stuff blocks and had 10 kills and five points.
Eve Denton was 94 percent in setting with 16 assists and 15 points.
Brittany Reid was 97 percent setting with 13 kills, 10 points, 14 assists and a stuff block.
Cherise Ricco had three points and two kills, Kayla Reid had a pair of kills and one block, and Danielle Ricco had two kills and a pair of stuff blocks.
Prairie City opens Old Oregon League play on Friday, Sept. 19 at Cove. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
