JOHN DAY - A Feb. 9 assembly at Humbolt Elementary School showcased what students learned during lessons with writer-in-residence Carol Imani of Klamath Falls, whose focus was poetry.

Students - one from from each class - shared poems they wrote, and Boethin's entire class performed their interpretation of "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll, with help from Imani.

"It was a collaborative effort," Boethin said.
