Prairie City 64, Wallowa 36
WALLOWA - Prairie City ended its 2002 football season hammering Wallowa 64-36 to finish 3-2 in the Old Oregon League and 5-2 overall.
The Panthers ran the ball well against the Cougars rolling up 487 yards in offense, led by Joshua Munyon who rushed for 227 yards.
Touchdowns came in bunches and Prairie City jumped out to a 24-0 lead after the first quarter of action before Wallowa was able to score.
Ariel Winegar opened the scoring for the Panthers hauling a 55-yard scoring pass from Tyler Waggoner, and Waggoner put the second touchdown on the board on a quarterback sneak.
Waggoner then hooked up with Josh Moulton for the third touchdown of the game, and the Panthers were off and running.
Wallowa finally got on the board on a 10-yard touchdown run by Randy Spaur, but Munyon quickly answered with yet another Panthers' score.
Spaur scored again for Wallowa on an 85-yard run, only to have Waggoner hit Winegar from 25 yards out.
By halftime, Prairie City was comfortably ahead 40-20.
Wallowa tallied early in the third quarter when Spaur scored his third touchdown of the game to trim the lead to 40-28.
Waggoner added his second touchdown of the game to up the lead once again, and Winegar returned a kickoff for 74 yards for another Prairie City touchdown.
