City of Residence: Prairie City
Previous government service: This is my first time to run for public office. If elected I will be accessible and responsive to the citizens of Prairie City. I will encourage better communications between city government and our citizens. -I will work with the city council, city employees and agencies to provide the best possible services for our city.
The most important issue facing Prairie City is the need for affordable pure water and reasonable sewer rates.- There is a triumph, we have hit good water.- We need a cost effective water/sewer line replacement master plan. -Solving Prairie City's issues promptly and in a courteous manner is my intention.-Maintaining a desirable, clean, attractive community that is safe, as well as a busy and vital downtown is my mission.-
Some of the community activities that I have participated in:
Served as an appointee to the Prairie City City Council; Active member of Prairie City Community Association (PCCA) a 501(c)3 organization- since moving to Prairie City in 1995.- I served as President of PCCA twice and VP once; Co-Chair of the Grant County 4th of July in Prairie City for 5 years; Participated in or directed several PCCA sponsored "Paint the Town"; projects.- Last year I participated in the Oregon Solutions "Paint the School" project; I have volunteered for the last several years to maintain the Conestoga Wagon at the scenic viewpoint east of Prairie City another PCCA managed project. I have assisted the City of Prairie City by writing a grant for $10,000.00 to help build city park restrooms. I directed the Grant County Scrap Metal Round-up.- We collected and removed 468 tons of scrap metal from Grant County.- We accepted and removed more than 3 semi-trailer loads of tires from the county. We sold the metal to Wurdinger Recycling for $14,685.00.- The money will go toward PCCA sponsored community endeavors.- I have spearheaded many personal restoration projects in Prairie City.
The positions of Mayor, City Council, the Prairie City Fire Department and Planning Commission are comprised of loyal, dedicated, invaluable volunteers.- I would like to offer my time, energy and enthusiasm toward strengthening our community.- We have good people, a beautiful valley, abundant natural resources and good and fruitful efforts going toward necessary improvements.- Through collective and focused efforts to solve problems, local government should assist in maintaining community well being by providing efficient and effective services. Thoughtful management revisions and improvements of services should be expected in order to be more cost effective with our city budget.
Prairie City is at a pivotal point to excel. --
It is time for me to offer my time and energy to join a winning team for a brighter future for Prairie Citizens.
