PRAIRIE CITY - Residents can mark Sept. 20 on their calendars as the date for Prairie City's Autumn Downtown Stroll.

The event will offer time to get acquainted with new, and established, Grant County businesses and to have some fun during the afternoon children's programs, a Mexican food dinner, silent auction, and then an evening street dance with live music.

A new activity will include a fruit identification at the Hospice Building provided by Larry McGraw of Kimberly. Participants are invited to bring fruit for judging or a portion of the tree for identification.

In 2000 the Greater Prairie City Community Association held an open house for all business people and was surprised at how many small businesses operate in the area. The event has grown and this year booths again will be set up to introduce new businesses and showcase their talents. To date, more than 20 businesses will participate, and anyone with something to show or sell can arrange for booth space by calling 820-4126. Space is limited, early registration is recommended by Friday, Sept. 12.
