Many activities - hunting, 55 Alive driving course, sickness and travel out of town - made for a small crowd at the Prairie City Senior Center on Oct. 2.
Nevertheless, the trusty early-morning set-up crew was Amos Cardwell, Buzz Harris and Carl Johns and Buzz made 12 home deliveries.
Ruth Johns tended to the reception desk. It was mentioned that June Walden is staying at the home of her daughter, Barbara Raines.
The discussion turned to the cooler temperatures: "How cold was it at your house?" 20...17...14 degrees. Brrr.
Clayton Curtis led the flag salute and Carl Johns announced winners for the drawings: Jim Lunzman, certificate from Lunch Box Deli; Naomi Goslin, Prairie Drug and Hardware; Roy Graham, meal at Branding Iron.
Lorna Ashmead and Christy Cary brought Slim Williams, Timmie Reusser and Virginia Hymer from Blue Mountain Nursing Home.
The American Legion Auxiliary - Louise LaBaugh, Vivian Rookstool and Winnie Smith - served spaghetti with mushrooms and meat sauce, tossed salad, grilled French read and cake.
Those helping after lunch included Buzz and Marjorie Harris, Carl Johns in the kitchen, Naomi Goslin and Cleo Dunten prewashed silverware, Carl Leishman and Ruth Johns cleaned tables and Hank Goslin swept the floor.
Community members are invited to come for the meal at noon each Wednesday and bring a friend.
