The action began at 6 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Strawberry Grange Hall when Buzz Harris, Amos Cardwell, Carl Johns and Marvin Casebeer arrived to set up for the noon event. Later, Buzz delivered 14 take-out meals, Marvin led the flag salute and Jack Viggers gave the blessing.

Clayton and Beverly Curtis are off to the Oregon Coast for a few days to celebrate Beverly's birthday.

Ruth Johns greeted 44 diners from the reception desk. Two first-timers arrived - Dennis Goodman from Baker City and Arlene Lynch from Prairie City.

Drawing winners included Amos Cardwell, haircut at Mort's Barber Shop; Marvin Casebeer, certificate from Chuck's Little Diner; Elda Adams, Prairie Drug and Village Flowers; and Winnie Smith, Lunch Box Deli.

Lorna Ashmead and Leslie Davis brought the following guests from Blue Mountain Nursing Home: Fran Ulrich, Sally Herberger, Ruby Dow and Bessie Read.

Ruth Johns read Marvin's reading: "If you were born before 1940," a sheet full of things we didn't have back then, or had never even heard of. Author unknown.

Noodles with meat were served by Sharon Kimberling, Elaine Kight and Arlene Lynch. After-lunch helpers included Buzz and Marjorie Harris, Carl Johns and Cleo Dunten. Ottis Garrett and Marvin Casebeer cleaned the hall.

On Feb. 26, we will celebrate February birthdays. Join us at noon.
