Prairie City Seniors: Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 13, promises tasty fixings

A tasty lunch was served on Aug. 6, another very warm day.

The set-up crew included Buzz Harris, Carl Johns and Amos Cardwell. Five home meals were delivered by Buzz.

Ruth Johns greeted 47 diners at the reception desk.

First-timers from Mesa, Ariz., were Wayne and Gwen Lowell, houseguests of Carl and Ruth Johns.

From Blue Mountain Nursing Home, Lorna Askew and Shawna Morin accompanied Cal Suksdorf, Mildred Benson, Elda Adams, Virginia Hymer, and Ressie Read.

Buzz Harris led the flag salute, and Amos Cardwell was at the microphone. The group heard the news of Sonja Johns' passing and that the funeral for Leeta Bradford was at Grace Chapel.

Winners in the drawing were Thelma Temple, Prairie Drug and Hardware; Hank Goslin, Mort's Barber Shop; Naomi Goslin, Chuck's Little Diner; and Jim Magee, Branding Iron Cafe.

Gene and Edna Jennings cooked a wonderful lunch consisting of meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, tossed salad, wheat rolls and yellow cake.

After lunch, Marjorie Harris and Carl Johns helped in the kitchen, Cleo Dunten pre-washed silverware, and Ottis Garrett, Hank Goslin and Del Lake cleaned the floors.

Thanks to all who helped; and be sure to attend the luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at noon!
