A memorial potluck sponsored by the American Legion Auxilary for the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Prairie City Grange Hall. The United Methodist Churches of John Day and Prairie City will also be holding a memorial and healing service on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.

June Waldon and Ruth Johns welcomed 43 diners to the Sept. 4 senior gathering.

Shawn Morin and Trish Coburn brought guests Slim Williams, Milburn Woods, Betty Paschen, Mildred Benson, Timmie Reusser, and Virginia Hymer from the Blue Mountain Nursing Home

The tables were set up by Amos Cardwell, Clayton Curtis, Buzz Harris, Carl Johns and Marvin Casebeer. Buzz delivered 13 home meals. Carl Johns led the flag salute.

Servers were Vivian Rookstool, Eula Mae Thompson, Barbara Reynolds and Winnie Smith from the American Legion Auxiliary. Along with the great vegetables from the gardens of Casebeers, Harris, Goslins and Jennings, we enjoyed a lunch of meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, wheat rolls and cake.

The servers, along with Buzz and Marjorie Harris, Carl Johns, Edna and Gene Jennings, cleaned up the kitchen. Prewashers were Bonnie Lake and Naomi Goslin.

Hall cleaning was done by Carl Leishman, Del Lake, Ottis Garrett, Hank Goslin and Marvin Casebeer.

Winners in the drawing were: Marjorie Harris, Prairie Drug and Hardware; June Waldon, $5 off a meal at the Branding Iron and Louise LaBaugh, The Lunch Box Deli.

Last week I stated that Donna and Bud Edmunson were married in 1931 which was before Donna was born. They were actually married in 1951. Sorry about that, Donna.
