PRAIRIE CITY - March 11, 2009. It was a cold morning, like between 0 and 10 degrees when the guys went to prepare the tables for the 46 who signed in before noon to eat the meal of turkey-vegetable soup, rolls, deviled eggs, jello with colored marshmallows, glorified rice and family favorite (chocolate) cake. Seven meals were delivered or picked up.

Flag salute was led by Buzz Harris. The blessing was given by Billy Drinkwater. The Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate went to Dorothy Blasing.

Marvin Casebeer announced the fish fry at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church parish hall on Friday the 13th. It will be the first of three fries.

Our servers were Vonnie Blasing, Pam Howard, Leone Wenzel and myself. Yeah, illness and lenten lunches are cutting down on who is available on Wednesdays for a few weeks.

Several state park personnel (5 or 6) and "Friends of Bates" members joined us. Leonard Cardwell and Jack Reid from the Pendleton area and Pam (Blume) Miller from Prineville were some I knew out of Grant County. They were in Prairie City for meetings most of the day. Larry Miller talked briefly about the Bates mill site.

Tim Cooley announced the grange's yard sale at the Strawberry Grange Hall this Saturday, the 14th.
