PRAIRIE CITY - The Prairie City volleyball team went up against a strong Cove squad on Friday, Oct. 4, and lost a three-game Old Oregon League match, 27-25, 25-18 and 25-22 to the Leopards.

The defeat drops Prairie City's record to 2-3 in league matches and 6-4 overall.

Panthers' coach Eva Saul said the team played a strong opening game against the Leopards, but losing a 27-25 decision affected play in the remaining two games.

"Losing the first one caused a let down in the second game," Saul said. "We had our chances to win the first game and we almost won the third one. Cove is a really confident team and they were state champions last year. It was a really competitive match, but we just couldn't get over the edge."

Brittany Reid led the Panthers with eight serving points and five kills. Amanda Rockhill had seven points and four stuff blocks, and Lindy Black added six points.
