PRAIRIE CITY - The Prairie City boys and girls teams lost at home to both Crane and Burnt River last weekend.
The Panther boys' Friday game with Crane was close for three quarters, but Prairie City coach Darren Lemon said his team's game "fell apart in the fourth." He said the team made some "mental mistakes" and "they couldn't make a basket."
He added that Crane is a good team, and the Mustangs kept up the pressure throughout the game, making 10 to 12 easy layups off the Panthers.
Leading scoring for the Panthers was Derek Kell with 14 points. Tel Winegar did some excellent rebounding for the team; others pitched in for "a great first three quarters," said Lemon.
The final score was 69-47.
The Panthers lead by 18 points at the half of the Burnt River game. "We played a great first half," Lemon said.
Unfortunately, the second half was a struggle, and the Panthers didn't make a field goal in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Lemon said, Burnt River "never let up."
Brady Doty led the scoring for the Panthers with 18 points.
The final score was 58-56.
The Prairie City girls also had a tough weekend, losing to No. 1-ranked Crane, 34-53, and to Burnt River, 53-37.
