JOHN DAY The Grant Union High School varsity golf team placed on top of a five-way match at John Day Golf Course May 6, with a season low score of 348.
The Prospector junior varsity golfers placed second, with their best score of the season, 399.
In the match, Echo placed third with 408; Wallowa was fourth with 425; Burns had 455; and Long Creek, 551.
Low medalist of the event was Pierce Millar of Wallowa, with an 82. Grant Unions Matt Goin followed, with 83. Tying for third were Grant Union golfers Chris Gibson and Mike Moles, each with 87.
Prospector golfer Tanner Wilson led the JV team with a season low of 92. Stuart Mosier and Austin Bremner each had 102.
For the girls, Shauna Crisman of Wallowa was low medalist. She was followed by Alyssa Larramendy of Echo, with 111. The Lady Propectors were led by Karyn Cowing with 127; Chenise Clark, 140; and Megan Cameron, 161.
What a great day for the team. We won the last match of the season with our team season low, said Grant Union head coach Ron Lundbom.
The team is scoring when they need to, and we are excited about competing this year at the district tournament at Wildhorse Monday and Tuesday (May 9 and 10).
