JOHN DAY - The Wapiti League baseball champion Grant Union Prospectors dominated the South Division all-league first-team selections at a recent meeting of league coaches.

The Prospectors placed eight players on the first team including junior Bo Thunell, who was named the South Division's player of the year.

Other first-team players included senior pitcher Matt Curtis along with junior hurler Kerry Ashmead.

Senior Cody Frazier was named to the first team at first base and senior Kevin Percy received the nod as a first-team outfielder.

Junior outfielders Joel Silva and Toby Thomas along with junior designated hitter/utility player Adam Kowing rounded out Grant Union's first team selections.

Also named as first-team performers were infielders Jesse Garcia, Joe Cummings and Cody Waldo from Nyssa along with outfielder Trent Holcomb, and designated hitter/utility player Bryton Hills from Pine Eagle completed the first team.

Local players named to the second team included junior catcher Willie Rockhill from Prairie City along with Panther sophomore infielders Levi Voigt and Greg Waggoner.

Grant Union junior Eli McClure was named a second-team all-league outfielder.

Senior Jeremiah Wheeler from Prairie City was named an honorable mention performer.
