Grant Union 56, Joseph 12

JOSEPH - Grant Union got back on the winning track in the race for a post-season playoff position in the Wapiti League with a one-sided 56-12 football victory over Joseph on Friday, Oct. 4.

Grant Union's record is now 2-1 in league games and 4-1 overall.

The Prospectors raced out to a 20-0 lead in the first 12-minutes of the game on touchdown runs by Cody Frazier, Brandon Hueckman and Trevor Simmons.

"We played a whole lot better in this game than we did last week," Grant Union coach Monty Simmons said.

The Prospectors pushed the lead to 40-6 at halftime, with one of the touchdowns coming on a 15-yard Simmons to Billy Colson pass.

In the second half, the Pros poured it on with Frazier scoring on a 11-yard run and Hueckman returning an interception 24-yards for another score. Toby Thomas also added to the Prospectors' point total with a field goal.

Joseph's only second-half score came on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Hook to Chris Garrett.

Grant Union plays its second straight league game on the road on Friday, Oct. 11, at Enterprise. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
