Red Flag Warning issued for Thursday

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for extreme fire conditions from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday in Grant County and much of central and northeast Oregon.

Hot and dry conditions will peak Thursday across the region as a ridge of high pressure aloft continues over the region. The ridge is expected to break down Friday as a trough approaches the Pacific Northwest with breezy to windy conditions developing across the Columbia Basin.

Humidity is forecast at 8-18 percent, and the Haines Index, which anticipates fire growth potential, is high. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
