REDMOND - A fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 26 on Aug. 11 claimed the lives of Redmond residents Peggy Kay Thoma, identified as the driver, and Betty Ann Eccleston.

Thoma was born in 1949 and Eccleston was born in 1924, according to Oregon State Police. They were traveling in a 1996 Plymouth mini van. A westbound 1992 Ford F-350 pickup crossed the center line of the two-lane highway and struck the eastbound Plymouth van, OSP reported.

Two Vancouver, Wash., residents were in the Ford pickup. The driver, Ramon Meza Diego, born in 1979, was treated at Oregon Health & Science University for non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, Claudio Orlando Cruz-Araiza, born in 1978, was treated at Emanuel Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
