CANYON CITY - The Southeast Regional Alliance, a community and economic development region serving Grant, Harney and Malheur counties, has allocated all available grant funding for the 2001-03 biennium.

Successful applicants during the current biennium included local governments, special districts, nonprofits and private businesses. Projects addressed such diverse efforts as development of telecommunication systems, assisting in construction of community facilities and business expansion.

Funds for the SRA come from the Oregon State Lottery through the Regional Investment Program of the Economic and Community Development Department.

Throughout the four years of this program, more than $2.5 million in lottery funds have been awarded in the form of grants and loans in the three counties. Since 1999, the SRA board has given particular emphasis to investing in businesses to create jobs. Other areas of focus include enhancing the capacity of communities to respond to economic and community development activities and supporting local efforts to address priority community projects. All funded proposals must further at least one of these goals.

SRA public meetings are held monthly on the fourth Monday. For more information, call Sondra Lino at 575-2786.
