GU Class of '53
ready to celebrate 50-year reunion
CANYON CITY - The Grant Union High School Class of '53 will gather for a 50-year reunion June 21-22.
Festivities will begin 5 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Canyon City Park, where refreshments will be served along with conversation.
On Saturday, classmates will gather at the John Day Elks Lodge at 4:30 p.m. followed by pictures at 6, and a dinner and program at 7. A no-host bar will be available.
A no-host breakfast at the Squeeze-In Restaurant and Deck will be 8-10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Friends are welcome to join class members Friday evening at the Canyon City Park and again Sunday at the Squeeze In for the no-host breakfast.

Class of '83 plans 20th celebration
JOHN DAY - The Grant Union High School Class of 1983 will hold its reunion July 18-20.
The home of Gregg Haberly on Ford Road will be the scene of a Friday night get-together, beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, a barbecue is planned at John Day City Park with registration at 11 a.m. A Saturday night dinner will be served at Outpost Pizza and Grill and on Sunday morning, a 10 a.m. breakfast/brunch will be served at Grant Union High School cafeteria, complete with the "famous" cinnamon rolls.
Any teachers or other community members associated with the class are invited to the Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch.

Mt. Vernon grads gather June 21
MT. VERNON - The Mt. Vernon High School classes of 1955-59 will hold their reunion Saturday, June 21. Tours of the school will begin at 1 p.m.; the group can enjoy sharing of memorabilia throughout the day and a dinner at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Vernon Grange Hall.
