PRAIRIE CITY – Runners, joggers and cyclists will hit the road at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2, to help support the Humbolt Elementary Artist In-Residence Program.

Participants will choose between the 5K youth bike race, the 5K walk/run, the half marathon run or the 13.1-mile bike event.

The course is set along North River Road, just east of Prairie City.

The starting line for the 5K will be .3 miles east of the 4-mile marker on North River Road.

The starting line for the half marathon is .2 mile after turning onto North River Road from Highway 26.

The finish line for the 5K and half marathon will be at 30339 N. River Road, Prairie City.

The courses for the 5K and half marathon are relatively flat, with a combination of gravel and pavement surfaces.

Runners, walkers and cyclists are encouraged to park at the finish line. If you need a ride, or would like to shuttle your personal items to the finish line, a school bus will drive participants from John Day to the race site.

The bus will leave from Grant Union High School parking lot at 8 a.m. on race day. The bus will return at the end of the 5K race.

Registration packets will be available in the gym of Humbolt Elementary School from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, or at the finish line beginning at 7:45 a.m. on race day.

Race fees are $10 for age 18 and younger, $25 for 19 and over, and $40 per family.
