CANYON CITY - Rental space revenue is on the rise at the Grant County Fairgrounds RV Park, fairgrounds manager Stephanie Walters said recently.
In a Sept. 8 update to the County Court, Walters said the park finished the 2009-2010 year with a $4,143 net profit.
August rentals also were up, with the preliminary figures showing the monthly total jumping from about $2,000 in 2009 to $2,700 in 2010. And the latter doesn't include about $1,000 in revenues from credit cards that hadn't been processed yet, she said.
She said rentals were increasing, in part because the fairgrounds began taking reservations for the park. People also are paying with credit cards through the Internet, she said.
After just a month of taking credit card payments, about a quarter to a third of the business was being done that way, she said.
Walters said people can click from the fairgrounds website to a page for the RV Park. That's producing three or four e-mail inquiries a week for reservations.
The report was Walters' last to the County Court, as she is retiring from the Fairgrounds this month. Her successor, Mary Weaver, was at the meeting and will begin the manager's job Monday, Sept. 27.
