JOHN DAY - A picture-perfect day July 11 greeted members of the Central Oregon Seniors Golf Association as the group teed off at the John Day Golf Club for their annual tournament in Grant County.

"Our group has approximately 120 members who represent eight different gold courses in Central Oregon," said Jim Wells, president of the association.

Wells, who also serves as the association's secretary and treasurer, is the person responsible for setting up the annual tournament in John Day and at the other golf courses members of the association play at.

"Our members are from Madras, Crooked River, Burns, John Day, Juniper, The Greens, Kah-Nee-Tah and Hot Springs," Wells said. "We play one tournament a year at each of the eight courses. We usually have about 90 players at each of the tournaments and I think there are about 67 here today. Burns had the lowest turnout and I don't know what happened to them."

Divided into foursomes, the group teed off at 9 a.m. for 18 holes over the John Day Golf Course.
