JOHN DAY - This week is National Adult Immunization Awareness Week.

Flu Shot Clinics are planned by the Grant County Health Department at the following dates/times:

• Wednesday, Oct. 15 - Prairie City Senior Center, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Seneca School, 2:30-4 p.m.

• Thursday, Oct. 16 - John Day Senior Center, 9 a.m.-noon.

• Thursday, Oct. 23 - Dayville School, 9:30 a.m.-noon; and Mt. Vernon City Hall, 1:30-4 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 28 - Long Creek School, 9:30-11:30 a.m.; and Monument Senior Center, 1-3 p.m.

Approximately 36,000 people die annually from the flu virus - most of them senior citizens.

The Health Department will bill insurances. For those who do not have insurance, the cost is $20 for either flu shots or pneumonia shots. For more information, call (541) 575-0249.
