CANYON CITY - The Grant County Sheriff's Department is investigating a series of vehicle break-ins which occurred in Canyon City during the evening hours of Thursday, Oct. 23, and the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 24.

Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer reported several vehicles had been entered and had stereos and car radios stolen.

Palmer is asking citizens to keep a copy of the make, model, serial numbers or owner-applied numbers of valuables in the event of theft.

"This will help law enforcement personnel investigating thefts. Without this information, it is next to impossible to accurately document ownership of stolen property," he said.

Palmer also reminds citizens to make sure not to leave valuables in vehicles and to make sure vehicles are secured when parked for the night

For more information or help with marking personal belongings, contact the Grant County Sheriff's Office or other law enforcement agencies in the area.
