Here are the results of some recent "away" games played by Grant County high school basketballers.

Saturday, Jan. 23

? Prairie City boys 72, Mitchell 70 OT.

"A well-fought battle. We were able to edge out a victory," said coach Darren Lemon.

Brady Doty, 28; Marshall Mecham, 16. Mecham was injured halfway through the overtime period; Derek Kell, 9; Sawyer Schulze, 6; Jerry Liu and Cole Holberg each had 5; Tel Winegar, 3.

? Prairie City girls 56, Mitchell 28.

"A very good game for us. Concentrated on ball movement offensively and reversing the floor, in which we did very well and got everyone good shots," said coach Penny Black.

Kieley Williams, 13 points; Salona Mecham, 11; Justice Strong and Reagan Emmel each had 7; Salem Fast, 6; Katie Hoberg, Rachelle Hill and Caitlin Patten, each with 4. Patten and Emmel each had five steals.

Friday, Jan. 22

? Monument/Dayville girls 29, Spray 23.

"We did well enough to win, did better from the free-throw line than normal. We stepped up toward end of game. Jordin Cowdrey played extremely good defense, that made the difference in the game," said coach Alec Moore.

Cowdrey tied as high scorer of the game with Bianca Thomas; each had 8. Also pitching in: Shyanne Winters, 7; Mary Cade, 4; Laura Verstoppen, 2.

? Spray 36, Monument/Dayville 26.

"A real defensive battle, defense tough both ways that night. (Spray is) a very good team," said coach Ron Schafer. "Spray is a good team to watch. They're more experienced and well-disciplined. Our guys are a little younger than they are. I'm really proud we stayed in the game with them."

Monument/Dayville had 10, Spray, 13, at the half.

Gus King and Justin Larson each had 7 points; Jon Kimball, 6; Jake Buce and KJ Woosley, 3 each.

? Prairie City boys 80, Long Creek 56.

"A rough. physical game. We played well on defense, a lot of steals, resulted in lot of easy buckets for us," said coach Darren Lemon.
