JOHN DAY - As an addition to the Home & Garden Show planned May 9-10 at Grant County Fairgrounds, a spring flower show will also be featured with judged entries and awards/prizes.

Organizers recognize that a variety of flowers will be blooming in diverse parts of the county, and participants are encouraged to bring whatever they have: tulips, narcissi, peonies, iris etc.

There will be a class of single-stem flowers; mixed flowers, three stems of different color or variety; flowing shrubs, such as lilacs (three stems). A potted plant category will be provided as well as arrangements for a "spring in bloom" mix; sunshine bouquet, all yellow; miniature, under 5 inches; and Happy Mother's Day.

Entries will be accepted 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, May 9. Judging will take place in the afternoon. The show opens from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 9; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 10. Entries and awards can be picked up between 4-5 p.m. on Saturday.

For more information, call Susan McArthur at 575-1230 or the Grant County Fair office at 575-1900.
