Student picked for honors

PRAIRIE CITY - Meaghan Keffer, a senior at Prairie City High School, recently received two awards.

Keffer was selected to receive a $750 college scholarship from the Grant County Art Association, and also was named the National History Club Student of the Year from the club's Prairie City chapter.

Keffer plans to attend Western Oregon University in Monmouth next fall. She hasn't decided on a major but is considering art, journalism or business.

For the history honor, she will receive an autographed book from George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens titled "His Excellency:?George Washington" by Joseph J. Ellis.

She is the daughter of Christy and Jeff Keffer of Bates.
