Student takes 2nd in state essay contest

SENECA – McKenzie Nielsen has won second-place for class II at the state level in the 2011 Americanism Essay contest.

Nielsen will receive a $50 U.S. savings bond from the American Legion Auxiliary, for her essay on this year’s topic, “How Can I Encourage My Friends to Show Pride in Being an American?”

A sixth-grader in Judith Beaudet-Reed’s class at Seneca School, Nielsen is the daughter of Cory and Tammie Nielsen of Seneca.
