SENECA – Seneca School’s fifth and sixth graders enjoyed a baked salmon luncheon at the John Day Senior Center on Oct. 14.

Several of the students mixed in with the hungry crowd and joined in conversations.

After lunch, Hailey and Jessica Carter played a duet on their fiddles. Their tune, “The Bear Valley Waltz,” is an original composition by their fiddle teacher, artist-in-residence Kelly Thibodeaux.

Next, the entire class performed an a capella rendition of “Colors of the Wind,” with hand movements and even a wolf howl.

Teacher Judith Beaudet said the seniors and the students all had a wonderful time together.

Before returning to school, the students enjoyed a treat at Dairy Queen in John Day.
