GRANT COUNTY - The Grant County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to watch for a man in a white van who was seen taking photos of children playing in Prairie City.

Sheriff Glenn Palmer said his office received a report Tuesday, Feb. 2, that a suspicious vehicle was parked on North Johnson Street in Prairie City. The man in the vehicle, a white van, was taking photographs of young children playing in a yard. The children told someone in the house, who called the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies patrolled the area but did not find the van.

The investigation turned up information about a similar incident involving a white van in Doublas County, when a man was seen taking photographs of high school-age children. Officers stopped the vehicle and obtained permission to examine the camera, finding photographs of young girls and their posteriors.

Douglas County officials passed on information about the 2000 Chrysler mini-van, which has a California plate 4MUN719.

Palmer said anyone who sees the van should call 9-1-1 and report its location.
