Charleston, Va. -- (WVVA) A Bluefield teen continues to recover in a Charleston, West Virginia hospital after tragically breaking her neck while attempting a stunt made popular on social media.
Sabrina Armstrong, a ninth grader at Graham High School, was injured on February 13 while attempting what is known online as the "snow challenge".
The stunt involves participants jumping into the snow while wearing little clothing. It's common for those who try the "challenge" to share a video of their efforts on social media.
When Armstrong attempted to jump into the snow at her home, she struck ice. Her C5 vertebrae was broken instantly.
Now, her family is unsure if she'll ever be able to walk again.
