The Dayville/Monument Tiger girls picked up two wins on the road last weekend, defeating Harper 50-21 on Jan. 4 and outscoring Huntington 47-29 on Jan. 5.
Coach Skip Inscore said the Tiger team got plenty of experience on the boards in the two games.
In the Harper game, Elizabeth Inscore led the scoring with 11. Mandy King contributed 9, Denice Woosley and Tiffany Hunt each had 8, Caitlyn Woosley had 5, Cheyenne Winters and Marley Winkelman each had 4, and Tess Jonesburg added 1.
The coach said the girls started out slowly in the first quarter, "but we pulled away in the second."
The Huntington team was more challenging, but the local girls still pulled off a decisive win. Three players scored 11 points apiece: Inscore, Denice Woosley, and Hunt. Kaitlin Woosley chipped in 8 points, while Winters scored 6.
Huntington came out strong and led 10-5 at the first quarter, but defensive efforts - particularly by Kaitlin Woosley - turned things around for the Tigers, Inscore said.
The girls were scheduled to play Mt. Bachelor at home on Tuesday, past press time, and travel to Monument on Jan. 10 to face Ukiah-Long Creek.
On Saturday, Jan. 12, the girls will travel to Spray. That trip gives them the change to avenge an earlier loss to Spray - their only loss on the season entering this week's play.
