DAYVILLE - Coming out on the losing end isn't all bad.
Coach Russ Powell said that even though the Dayville-Monument Tigers lost 26-40 against the Crane Mustangs (in JV play), the Tigers "made a game of it" until the middle of the third period.
"It was a good game ... we started four freshman on both offense and defense who have had little playing time," Powell said.
"They gained valuable experience that will help them contribute to the team in these last few games of the season."
He added that he was proud of how the younger players didn't get discouraged and kept their heads in the game.
The Tigers have mostly home games left as the season winds down. This Friday, Oct. 22, is their Homecoming game against Harper/Huntington at 2 p.m. in Dayville.
The following Friday, Oct. 29, will be another home game, against Ione, in Monument.
