DAYVILLE Dayville/Monument had a three-game sweep against Adrian, Long Creek and Ukiah, allowing the Tigers to remain tied at the top of the league with a perfect 8-0 league record.
After dominating Ukiah 75-28 on Jan. 31 and running away with a 87-31 victory in Long Creek on Feb. 2, the Tigers went toe to toe with the Adrian Antelopes in Dayville, also on Feb. 2.
The Antelopes couldnt overcome the streaking performance of the Tigers, led by Colten Winters who punished the Antelopes by hitting 17 points.
Jamen Schafer continued to put up impressive stats, adding 12 points and passing for double-digit assists.
The Tigers built an early 8-0 lead as the majority of their shot attempts found the bottom of the net.
In the early going, the tone was set by
the Tigers pestering defense, which kept Adrian in check. But with good team play and a motion offense, the Antelopes managed to come back; they led by 14 points early in the second quarter.
The Tigers and head coach Jeff Schafer went back to the playboard, and used their athletic conditioning to recapture a 3-point lead heading into halftime.
After the half, the boys turned up the defense, and we started to pull away and never looked back, said Schafer.
When Jake Buce got into foul trouble, Jack Jewell stepped up as a major contributor, crashing the boards, scoring, and handing out multiple assists.
With the leadership of Jamen Schafer, the Tigers pulled away to command a 62-45 victory over Adrian.
It was the Tigers eighth consecutive win. They share the league lead with Crane.
The Tigers hit the road to face Prairie City at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, and return to Dayville on Feb. 8 to battle Spray in their last league game at 7:30 p.m.
