The Tri-County Wool Pool Board of Directors recently announced the sale of the 2004 wool crop. The Tri-County Wool Pool is a cooperative marketing opportunity for small- and medium-sized wool producers throughout northeast Oregon. The pool receives small lots of wool and assembles them into large truckload lots of wool that can attract bids from wool buyers throughout the country.

The Tri-County Pool will receive wool from 8 a.m.-noon Monday, June 14, at the Union County Fairgrounds in La Grande. No preregistration is required. R.C. Elliott of Salt Lake, Utah, was the successful bidder on the pool and will pay the following prices: whiteface wool $.70/pound and blackface wool $.38/pound. Belly wool should be separated from the fleece wool. Fleeces should not be tied. Discounts may be applied if belly wool is not separated, if fleeces are tied, or other quality defects are identified at the scale.
